A fund-raising Texas Hold 'Em tourney will be hosted by Surprise Councilman Gary "Doc" Sullivan and local business the Cigar Box. The event will benefit the St. Mary's/Westside Food Bank Alliance. The representative of District 3, Sullivan, will host a 32-player no-limit Texas Hold 'Em tournament at the Cigar Box . If the number of players exceeds 32, more poker tables can be set up to accommodate them. The event will take place at noon on Saturday at 13980 W. Bell Road in the Kohl's shopping center. In the event assisst Vincent Gossard and Nelly Valencia, the Cigar Box owners. Sullivan said although people think about the needs of the food bank just around the holidays, the needs are constant and last the whole tyear. He added that he was hoping they can help fill the cupboards at the food bank by raising several thousand dollars.
For a $50 fee everyone is allowed to come at the tournament. The money will be donated to the food bank and the prizes were donated, too. A Diamond Crown humidor filled with Ashton cigars is the first prize (worth about $3,000). A cigar cutter and Colibri lighter is the second prize. Third-place player will receive a box of cigars.
If entering the tournament you can win a big-screen television.
Non-perishable foods will be accepted at the tournament by The St. Mary's/Westside Food Bank Alliance.
