BlackJack is one of the most popular casino games in the whole world. The main goal of this entertaining game is to get as close to 21 without going over while still beating the dealers hand. All cards in Blackjack numbered 2 through 10 are at face value. All face cards are valued at 10. An ace is valued at either 1 or 11. Blackjack hands containing an ace valued at 11 are usually called soft hands. Hands containing an ace valued at 1 are called hard hands.
A Blackjack hand is an ace and card valued at 10 - for instance 10, J, Q or K. A two-card Blackjack always beats three or more cards, which equal 21.

Before playing Blackjack it is important to find an appropriate table at which to play. If you are a beginner in this game you have to pay attention to several details. The most important thing in Blackjack is the sign declaring betting limits. Both the minimum and the maximum allowable bets should be clearly posted on a sign on the table-top. So when you play Blackjack, you have to look around to find a table that suits your bet sizes. After that you have to insure yourself that the table you have selected is for Blackjack, and not another of the various table games offered at the casino. Another thing to observe is the type of game being dealt. Blackjack beginners are usually better off playing the shoe games where 6 or 8 decks are used. The advantage for beginners in this game is that all of the players cards are dealt face-up in front of each player and the dealer can help with playing questions and decisions. Once you become advanced
Blackjack player, you might want to switch to a game with fewer decks. The casinos advantage is lower with fewer decks in play.

When you play
Blackjack, before receiving any cards you must place a wager. When the wager is made every Blackjack player is dealt two cards face up. The dealer is also dealt two cards, one face up and the other face down. Once the blackjack players have completed their hands, the dealer turns over his hole card. If his hand totals a hard 17 through 21 he must stand. If his hand is 16 or under, the dealer must continue to take cards until either his hand is over 16 or over 21. The blackjack dealer must hit on a soft 16.

Hit in Blackjack - it means that you will be dealt another card.

Stand in Blackjack - it means that the player is satisfied with his hand and does not want to take another card.

Double Down in Blackjack - every
Blackjack player is given the option to double the initial bet, of course after he is dealt his first two cards. Once the player has chosen to do this, he will be dealt a third card, so his hand will only consist of three cards.

Splitting in Blackjack - if the player is dealt two cards with identical value, he can then split them and he would have two separate hands, each starting with one of the two split cards. After that the blackjack player will be dealt a second card to one of the hands. After this hand is played out, the second hand will be dealt a second card. Every Blackjack player may only split his hand once and a new bet equal to the initial bet will be placed for each split hand.

Insurance in Blackjack - if the dealers first card is an Ace, there is a possibility that he may have a BlackJack. If the player thinks the banks hidden card is a 10, he can insure himself against Blackjack. In this case the player have to pay an amount of half of his stake. If the Blackjack player has insured himself and the dealer gets BlackJack, the insurance will pay 2 to 1 which corresponds to players original stake. In the opposite case the player will lose his insurance.
Insurance gives the player a chance to protect himself, when he thinks that the dealer will get BlackJack. When the player has BlackJack he should not insure himself. In the case when the dealer gets BlackJack in response to the players Blackjack, a push is obtained.

Blackjack players win their wager if their total hand is higher than the dealers without going over 21. In the case when player busts, the dealer wins the hand before turning over a card. All hands that total less than the dealers hand lose. Hands that are equal in value will be considered a tie. In this case the players original wager will leave the table. If the player gets a Blackjack the payout will be at 3:2 rather than 1:1.
