Baccarat, as a game of chance, is one of the easiest table games to learn. It is usually played with eight decks of cards. Tens and face cards have a value of zero, aces count as one, and all other cards are equal to their value.

As the player you are given three options - to bet on the banker hand winning, your hand winning, or a tie between the two. Two cards are dealt to the player and the banker. If your total value is 5 or less you will be dealt a third card. The banker will then be dealt a third card if the total value of his hand is now less than yours.

But when baccarat was born? The game dates back to the Middle Ages. It was first played with a Tarot deck. Originating in Italy, it soon went to France where it found a home among the upper class aristocracy. Further evolution of the game shows it split to European baccarat, and a French game that goes by the name 'chemin de fer'.

Chemin de fer is very similar to baccarat as it's played in American casinos today. The difference is one of the players banks the game instead of the casino. The title of banker rotates around the table in a manner similar to the dice at a craps table. The interesting bit to observe of course is that the casino is taking no risk here; they simply charge a fee from each banker.

The Baccarat we know today originated in Great Britain and was then passed along to South America and finally to Nevada. The infamous Dunes casino introduced baccarat in the late 50's, and since then it has made its final migration onto the world wide web. Today all of the online casinos offer to the players the opportunity to play online baccarat. They use excellent software with thrilling graphics which could bring you the real atmosphere from the luxury casinos in Las Vegas or Monte Carlo.
